Suriname: Sices has been awarded a contract by Saipem

On July 25th 2011 Saipem was awarded a new Engineering & Construction Onshore contract in South America: in Suriname, the National Oil Company Staatsolie awarded Saipem the contract for the expansion of the Tout Lui Faut Refinery which is located 20 kilometers south of the capital Paramaribo.

Saipem has already carried out 10 months of engineering activities based on a reimbursable agreement. The agreement has been converted into a full EPC contract, encompassing engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction activities.

The project is aimed at achieving a twofold increase in the Suriname refinery’s capacity to 15,000 barrels per day. It will be completed in about 43 months.

A construction method of pre-assembly to some extent, as far as feasible, has been considered in order to minimize the construction impact at site. Therefore the fabrication of pre-assembled portion of the plant will be carried out in Sardinia - Arbatax fabrication yard. Sices will carry out this activity: at the end of January 2012 Sices has been awarded a contract for the construction of 24 package plants, to be completed within Spring 2013. The total amount of this contract is 27 Million Euro.

The awarding of this contract has been received with great satisfaction by the management of Sices Group.
